High Street Baptist Church in Somerset, KY is seeking a full-time Youth and Family Ministries Director.  This person shall be responsible for planning, overseeing, and evaluating our Youth and Family Ministry for all services (Sunday morning, Sunday evening, and Wednesday evening), as well as planning and conducting a comprehensive program of spiritual ministry and education for the youth and families of our church.  The candidate should have an in-depth knowledge of youth, families, and children.  A Bachelor´s degree in a related field is preferred.   • Principle Function

The Youth and Family Ministry Director shall lead in planning, overseeing, and evaluating our Youth and Family Ministry, which includes Preschool through Senior High School students and their families.

  • Qualifications

The Youth and Family Director/Minister will have a passion for working with youth, children, and families and will demonstrate experience and qualifications in this area. This staff member will fully comply with The Baptist Faith and Message 2000 and have a vision of ministry to youth, children, and preschool. It is desirable that the Youth and Family Director/Minister have a minimum of Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Baptist based seminary training is preferred.

  • Responsibilities
  1. Plan, conduct and evaluate a comprehensive program of spiritual ministry and education for the youth and families of our church.
  2. Devote most of the work week (60-70%) to hands-on ministry with middle schoolers and high schoolers and the remainder (30-40%) to managing and equipping volunteers in preschool and children’s ministry.
  3. Attend weekly staff meetings.
  4. Develop annual budget for preschool, children, and youth ministries.
  5. Hold regular office hours to be available for families, teachers and other church staff.
  6. Provide information to keep the website/calendar up-to-date.
  7. Work with appropriate staff members to resolve procedural, space and scheduling issues for preschool through youth.
  8. Work with facility cleaning team to keep class rooms clean and organized.
  9. Plan and supervise the implementations of Family Programs and all youth programs.
  10. Be available to spiritually counsel children, youth, and their families.
  11. Select educational curriculum, program materials, equipment, and supplies for the preschool, children and youth areas of ministry.
  12. Be present each Sunday morning, Sunday night, and Wednesday night to assure programs run smoothly, to provide support for teachers and troubleshoot when necessary.
  13. Recruit, train, support and do background checks on volunteers for preschool – children- and youth.
  14. Plan, implement, schedule and attend training for ministry volunteers.
  15. Establish class structure and keep classrooms and storage well stocked.
  16. Establish procedures for creating a safe environment for children including how to report incidents of abuse and maintain list of medical conditions or food allergies of all children. Food allergies will be posted in the appropriate area for the child’s safety.
  17. Select, organize and attend annual children’s camp and youth camp
  18. Organize and coordinate annual VBS and VBX events including recruitment and training of volunteers
  19. Contact new families and continue ongoing contact with families as needed.
  20. Maintain current contact list for all children and youth and work with Administrative assistant to coordinate weekly church bus pick-up/drop-off schedule.
  21. Coordinate volunteer calendar for meals and provide information to Administrative Assistant for them to send out weekly reminders.
  22. Coordinate chaperones for events.
  23. Coordinate baby dedications, graduation recognitions, and promotion Sundays.
  • Supervision

This staff member will be supervised by the Senior Pastor, answerable to the congregation through the Personnel Committee, and will complete an annual review process overseen by the Personnel Committee.
